KnowShit Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-01. Version 1.1.
1. Who we are and how you accept
KnowShit is a service at knowsh.it run by SoftwareMovers, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("SoftwareMovers", "we", "us"). Our address is PO Box 13, Mill Spring, NC 29766, USA.
These terms cover your use of KnowShit on the Free, Premium and Team plans. You accept them when you choose I agree at sign-up, or when you first use the service.
If you use KnowShit for a company, you accept these terms for that company. You confirm you have the authority to do so. "You" then means you and that company.
If your company has signed a KnowShit Enterprise order form or a Master Services Agreement with us, that signed contract governs. These terms apply only where it is silent.
For the Free, Premium and Team plans, these terms replace the general SoftwareMovers Terms of Service and the KnowShit Service Addendum.
2. Who can use KnowShit
KnowShit is for business and professional use. It is not a consumer service.
You must be 18 or older. You must be able to form a binding contract where you live.
3. Your account and sign-in
You sign in with an email address and password, or with a sign-in provider we offer, such as Google. If you use a sign-in provider, its own terms cover your account with it.
Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at `[email protected]` if you think someone else has used it.
Your work lives in a workspace. The workspace owner decides who joins it. Everyone in a workspace can see the recordings, knowledge bases and outputs in it. The owner can remove members and delete the workspace.
4. What KnowShit does, and what it is not
You upload a screen recording. KnowShit turns it into a knowledge base you can check, then into outputs such as a help guide, a test spec or an onboarding plan.
AI writes the output. It works from your recording, and it can be wrong. Every claim links to the second of the recording it came from. Check that moment before you rely on the claim.
When the recording does not cover something, the output says so. It names the gap. It does not fill the gap for you.
KnowShit gives no legal, financial, medical, security or other professional advice. Outputs are drafts. You decide what to do with them.
5. Your right to record and upload: read this
You must have the right to record and upload every recording you upload. That means two things.
- The people. If anyone can be seen or heard in a recording, you must have their consent to record them and to have the recording processed by KnowShit. Some places require every person on a call to agree before it is recorded. You must follow the recording-consent law that applies to you and to them.
- The systems. You must be allowed to record and document the software, systems and processes shown.
Do not upload a recording that contains a child's personal data.
Screenshots show what was on screen. KnowShit masks some configuration values in the knowledge base text. It does not blur or redact screenshots. If a password, customer record or other private value was on screen, it will appear in the screenshots and in outputs built from them. Hide it before you record, or edit the recording before you upload.
If a person in a recording tells us they did not agree to be recorded, we may remove that recording. We handle that request on the same timeline as a deletion request (section 13).
6. Your content
"Your content" means your recordings and everything KnowShit makes from them: transcripts, screenshots, knowledge base pages and outputs.
You own your content. We claim no ownership of it.
You give us permission to store, copy, process, transmit and show your content only to run KnowShit for you. That includes sending parts of it to our AI model provider to build your knowledge base and outputs (section 11). This permission ends when your content is deleted.
We do not train AI models on your content. Our model provider is Microsoft, through the Azure OpenAI Service. Microsoft's terms for that service say it does not use your content to train its models. Microsoft may keep the text we send it, and the text it sends back, for up to 30 days. It does that only to detect abuse of its service.
You can share a knowledge base by share link. You choose who gets the link, set its end date and password, and can revoke it. Anyone with an open link can see what it shares.
7. The AI connector
On Premium and Team plans, you can connect your workspace to an AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Copilot Studio. The Free plan cannot connect.
You choose the assistant. You connect it yourself, through a sign-in screen, and you can revoke it at any time. A workspace owner can revoke any connection in the workspace, or turn the connector off.
We send only what your assistant asks for. When your assistant searches your knowledge base on your behalf, we return the matching passages, their timecodes, and links to the screenshots and claims on knowsh.it. We never send the recording itself or a download link. On the Team plan, your assistant can also ask KnowShit to make an output.
After that, your AI provider's terms apply. Once a passage reaches your assistant, it is under that provider's terms and your settings with that provider. We do not control what it keeps or how it uses it.
Turn off model training in your AI provider's settings. Most providers have a setting for this. You should turn it off anyway.
Connector rate limits are 60 calls a minute per connection and 600 a minute per workspace. Do not try to get around them. Do not use the connector to reach another workspace's data or to get a recording out. We may suspend a connection that breaks these rules or looks abusive.
8. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. It is part of these terms. Ask `[email protected]` for the full policy. The main points:
- Safe for work only. Upload nothing sexual, pornographic, graphically violent or hateful. If you do, we close your account and block you from KnowShit. We may also report it to the owner of your workspace and to your employer. We report illegal content to the authorities.
- Upload nothing illegal, and nothing you have no right to upload (section 5).
- Do not attack, overload or probe KnowShit, or get around its limits.
- Do not try to reach another workspace's data.
- Do not try to trick or attack the AI system, for example with prompt injection.
- Do not use KnowShit or its outputs to build a competing service.
9. Plans, payment and taxes
Prices are in US dollars. The pricing page at the time you buy is the price of record. Today the plans are:
- Free. $0. One recording hour and two outputs, once. One seat. No connector.
- Premium. $399, paid once. Four recording hours and every output. One seat. Extra hours are $69 each, bought in advance as prepaid packs.
- Team. $999 a month. 40 recording hours a month, every output, up to 20 seats. Hours past 40 in a month cost $60 an hour, rounded up to the whole hour, and are billed monthly.
Unused Team hours do not carry over to the next month.
Stripe processes card payments. By buying, you let us charge your payment method for the plan and any overage.
Prices do not include taxes. You pay any sales, use, value-added or similar tax on your purchase. If the law requires us to collect a tax, we add it to your bill.
We may change prices. We will email the workspace owner at least 30 days before a new price applies to your Team subscription.
10. Renewal, cancellation and refunds
Team renews every month until you cancel. To cancel, email `[email protected]`. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for, and you keep access until then. If you delete a Team workspace instead, the subscription and your access end at once (section 13).
Premium: we refund the full price if you ask within 14 days of buying and no recording has been processed on it. Email `[email protected]`.
Team: we do not refund a part month.
Prepaid hour packs are not refundable. Prepaid hours do not expire.
Beyond that, payments are not refundable unless the law requires a refund or we agree to one in writing.
If a Team payment fails, you have 14 days to fix it. After that we may make the workspace read-only. If it is still unpaid 30 days later, we may delete the workspace (section 13). We will email the workspace owner before each step.
11. Other companies we rely on
We use a small number of companies to run KnowShit: for hosting, file storage, AI models, email, payments and network delivery. Our Privacy Policy lists them.
Our AI model provider is Microsoft, through the Azure OpenAI Service. We reach it only through our own gateway.
Your AI assistant (section 7) and your sign-in provider (section 3) are not our providers. They work for you, under their own terms.
12. How we protect your content
- Each workspace is walled off. The database enforces that one workspace cannot read another's rows.
- Files are private. Recordings, screenshots and outputs sit in private storage. We hand out short-lived links to view them.
- Traffic is encrypted between your browser and KnowShit.
- Keys and passwords for our systems are kept in a secrets manager, not in code.
SoftwareMovers holds no company security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001. The engineer who runs KnowShit's systems holds the CompTIA Security+ certification.
If we learn of a breach that affects your personal data, we will tell you without undue delay, and as the law requires.
13. Keeping and deleting your content
- Free plan. A recording moves to the trash seven days after it is ready. Upgrade before it is purged and it comes back.
- Paid plans. We keep your content while your workspace is on Premium or Team. Premium does not expire, so we keep its content until you delete it or delete the workspace.
- When you delete a recording, it moves to the trash. You can restore it until it is purged, 180 days later.
- When you delete a workspace, access ends at once. Its content is purged 30 days later.
- Purged means gone from our database and file storage. Database backups expire within 35 days.
You can ask us to delete any recording, output or your whole account sooner. Email `[email protected]`. We will do it within 30 days.
14. Confidentiality
We treat your content as confidential. Only staff who need it to run, support or secure KnowShit can reach it. They must keep it confidential.
We disclose your content only to run the service (section 11), when you tell us to, or when the law requires it. If the law requires it, we will tell you first, where we are allowed to.
15. Availability and support
We work to keep KnowShit running. Self-serve plans have no service level agreement and no service credits.
We may change, add or remove features. We will tell you in advance if a change takes away something you paid for.
Support is by email at `[email protected]`. We reply within 2 business days.
16. Our property
We own KnowShit: its software, design, prompts and output formats. These terms give you the right to use it while they last. They give you nothing else.
If you send us feedback, we may use it freely.
17. No warranty
KNOWSHIT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE GIVE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT OUTPUTS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR FIT FOR ANY USE. YOU MUST CHECK THEM BEFORE YOU RELY ON THEM.
18. Limit of our liability
TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS:
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE OR DATA.
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE FEES YOU PAID US FOR KNOWSHIT IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT THAT CAUSED IT, OR $50 IF YOU PAID NOTHING.
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR WHAT AN AI PROVIDER YOU CONNECT DOES WITH CONTENT AFTER IT RECEIVES IT (SECTION 7).
Some places do not allow these limits. Where they do not, they apply only as far as the law allows.
19. Your promise to cover us
You will defend us, and pay the costs of any claim against us, that arises from:
- a recording you upload, including a claim that you had no right or consent to record or upload it;
- your breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy; or
- your use of content in a way that infringes someone else's rights.
20. Suspension and termination
You can stop using KnowShit at any time. Deleting your workspace ends it (section 13).
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if you do not pay, or if the law requires it. We will tell you first unless the risk is urgent, for example an attack, illegal content, or content that is not safe for work (section 8).
When access ends, sections 6, 13 and 16 to 22 keep applying.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a material change, we will email you or post a notice at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using KnowShit after that date, the new terms apply.
22. Governing law and disputes
The laws of the State of Delaware, USA, govern these terms, without its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Wilmington, Delaware.
If you live in the EU or UK, you keep the rights your local consumer and data protection laws give you.
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
